In the north west of England a great concentration of the finest links courses is found along the Lancashire coast: Royal Lytham and St Anne’s *(RLSA); Royal Birkdale *(RB); Hillside (Hs); Southport and Ainsdale *(SA); Formby *(F) West Lancs (WL); Hesketh (Hes) and St Annes Old Links (SAOL). On the Wirral: Wallasey *(Wal) and Royal Liverpool *(RL) at Hoylake while in Cumbria, fine running-golf can be found at Silloth (Sil) and Seascale (Sea). Inland: Delamere Forest *(DF) is heathland and I am told Sandiway (San) is on the way back to fine turf, with Wilmslow (Wil), Prestbury (Pre) fine parkland.
Still to be played are Fairhaven (Fh) and Castletown (CT) on the Isle of Man.
