North East England has three fine links courses: Seaton Carew *(SC) at Hartlepool, Goswick (Go) near Berwick-on-Tweed and Cleveland (CL), the only links course in Yorkshire.
There is arguably one of the finest heathland courses in the British Isles at Ganton *(G) inland from Scarborough, in addition to Alwoodley *(Al), Moortown *(Mt) and Sand Moor *(SM) north of Leeds, with The Northumberland *(NL) in Newcastle upon Tyne, being all fine, as is South Moor (SM) a moorland course with a fine back-nine holes designed by Mackenzie near Durham.
Brancepeth Castle (BpC) near Durham is a fine, Colt designed, deerpark course with fescue, hill & dale fairways. Bamburgh Castle (BC) along the cliffs with its fine grasses and views is most enjoyable, while Dunstanburgh Castle (DuC) is another links, designed by James Braid, that I should play.
