FineGolf Enjoyment Day report
FineGolf’s new approach to a golf day was praised by the 60 people who attended, coming from all over England, Scotland, Ireland and Denmark and aged between 28 to 87! They included a good number of greenkeepers, Chairmen of Green and club secretaries.
After a round of golf at Temple GC, a Panel Discussion took place, with four of the UK’s leading experts, covering the major issues facing the game of golf.
See below videos of the panellist’s addresses:
45 golfers played a stableford 18 holes competition to ‘speedier rules’ (click here) and most of the three ball flights took between 3.15 and 3.25 minutes. Unfortunately I forgot to suggest that those aged over 75 should play from the forward tees and one elderly flight, continually losing balls in the meadows, took four hours!
David Greenshield (Goswick) with a gross 71 and 37 pts won the two ‘Sunningdale New’ kindly donated green-fees and Steve Baxter (Frilford Heath) and Tony Cairns (Leamington & Cty) the beautiful sweaters from Johnstons of Elgin.
A remarkable Commissioned Print made by Nick Pearce of Golfing Traditions was presented to Temple for being wonderful hosts.
Temple’s course manager Martin Gunn gave a talk about his greenkeeping philosophy and a ‘what to look out for’ paper was distributed (Click here)
